The truth is, we are always still getting deeper clarity on our businesses, our ideal clients, our brands, etc. I am. You are. Your coach is. Amy Porterfield is. (Oprah probably, too.)
So, here’s the deal: Waiting for perfect clarity before you put your ideas out there as content… It’s not the move.
Now, here’s how to know when you ARE ready…
You’re ready to start creating content when…
1. You have an offer you’re excited about.
It doesn’t need to be perfect. I’m sure it will change and evolve. (I know my offers have!)
You don’t have to have had tons of clients.
But you need to know what offer you want your content to sell for you. And you need to love what that offer can do for people!
2. You need to know what specific outcomes you help people get.
So… I want you to imagine being on a Zoom with me. Would you be able explain the specific outcome you help people get – in under three minutes? And would I ‘get it’ — even if your description is imperfect?
If yes, you’re ready to start with content! And creating that content will help you dial in your ‘elevator speeches.’
3. You have a goal in mind for your content.
Opt-in to get a freebie from you? Book a call? Click to buy something? We need to give them something to do. This is also known as a “CTA” or “Call to action.”
Note: Your CTAs can also change over time — but it’s better to choose content topics based on what your CTA will be, so it’s best to start with identifying the ‘next step’ you want people to take.

Your content will evolve with your business.
Now, lean in… This is super-important..
It will be okay if these things evolve over time. They literally always do. Really. I don’t know anyone in this space whose content hasn’t evolved over time.
You have to start somewhere — and it might as well be with a proven strategy for content that converts — not randomly! (More on that below.)
And even when you’re still early on in getting that clarity, you will still make incredible strides when you publish thought leadership content.
Because creating content actually makes things more clear.
As you are brainstorming, outlining, researching, writing, or recording, you’re working things out. By finding the words to express what you know and believe, you’re working things out.
And when you put content (and yourself!) out into the world, you get to see how people respond to your messages. And that also plays a really important part in getting increasingly more clear on your ICA, your offers, your brand, etc.
In all these ways, Action breeds clarity.
